Grandma's Tea Party

I'm more of a coffee person but this kind of tea party looks pretty fun.

You know the feeling when you discover a new awesome band and they only have around 2,000 likes on Facebook and you think it's really unfair because they're awesome so you want everyone to know who they are because they deserve it?
Well, this is exactly what I'm feeling right now so I'm sharing Grandma's Tea Party's music as much as I can!

A Wise Man Told Me and Lyrebird are my favorites but the whole EP is really great and has been on repeat since Tuesday.

Young the Giant

I always say that Glee makes almost every original version of a song they perform sound lame.
I always say how perfect Blaine is and how I would never ever say no to a Blaine performance. He is just so adorable and sexy and his voice makes me melt.

But of course, there are some exceptions.
When I heard Cough Syrup for the first time, I rushed to check the original version because I fell in love with the song.

And well, in addition to the awesome music video, the glitter, the paint and everything, the vocalist is adorable! I don't know where he is from, but his accent killed me. Literally.

So, of course, I downloaded their whole album, which is amazing.
And I got obsessed with another one of their song: My Body.

I'm With You

I have been waiting for Red Hot Chili Pepper's new album all summer long.
It is and has always been my favorite band of all time. I grew up listening to their albums, watching their concerts, learning their guitar solos...
I always enjoyed their extreme vocals and hardcore solos. I especially love Flea, the bassist.

So the band came back, after a long long break. But it's not the same band at all.

"This is a new band. Same name, but it's a new band."

Their new album is nice. Not what I was expecting.

The favorite songs: 

The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie. It's just amazing. Smooth and nice until the guitar solo which is just great but too short.

Did I Let You Know. It's nothing like their old work but I love it! The saxophone part was a nice surprise.

I've been neglecting my bass lately.
These songs made me want to play again!

The world is forgetting the power of musical instruments.

Norwegian Recycling - Updated.

I already wrote about Norwegian Recycling, but what I did not know was this.
His website.

His music is free! And I also discovered his 4 albums. Yes. FOUR!
I already knew about Donkey Business but it is nothing, nothing compared to his other work!

This guy took my playlist and mashed it up, and I love him for it!

I have always thought that DJs were these crazy people standing behind some kind of weird machine waving their hand at the overexcited drunk crowd dancing... But I was wrong! (And that doesn't happen often)

Peter Bull is a DJ that does mash-ups like you have never seen before!
His album Donkey Business is just genius! He mashed famous songs up with songs from the game Diddy Kong... And gosh I spent so many summers on my Nintendo 64 playing that game!
The songs brought back so many memories... Akh...

Anyway, the album was nothing compared to the other songs he released!

I'm a Red Hot Chili Pepper superfan and anything that's related to this band just turns me on! Snow is also one of my favorite songs! I have never listened to the other songs and I don't care about them.

I love old Black Eyes Peas. I remember putting this song on repeat all the times... Maroon 5 is also pure genius. Is Adam Levine the sexiest man ever? Songs About Jane is the only album I ever bought... ever. (Go free music) And U2 is of course one of the best bands of all times. I love Bono!

Back in time...

I was in the car with my parents yesterday, and they turned the radio on to Nostalgie's Classique 80.
They got all overexcited and my father told me: "Yiii haydoleh men eyyemna! Anna ou emmak kenna ner'oss aala hal agheneh!"
My mom started singing and dancing in the car!

I love old music!  People are listening to noise these days! Where did all the creativity go? Music is not an art anymore...
Why are all the new songs depressing and annoying? Music is not supposed to give you a headache!
When I listen to Nostalgie I get hyperactive and happy! It cheers me up and makes me want to dance!

I was curious and wanted to know more, so I asked my dad about life during the 80s in Lebanon.
There was an awkward silence, and then he turned around and told me: "Kenna rayhin jeyin ben Jbeil w Beirut..."
War... I completely forgot about that!
The eighties, the parties every night, the weird and creepy dance moves, the disco... all of that was just a dream in Lebanon...

When I came back home I started downloading all the songs I heard on the radio:

Happy Together - The Turtles
Video Killed the Radio Star - The Buggles
... And a lot of Ace of Base, Bee Gees and Cher!

But I want more songs! I need more songs!
I'm going through a phase, and it's not the first time.
Last year I had Funky Town stuck in my head for 3 month...
I slept at 5AM yesterday listening and downloading more and more music!

Let your colors burst!

Thanks to a post by Beirut Boy, I discovered Katy Perry's marvelous music!
No, she doesn't write songs about love and about prince charming. She tries to deal with the issues that everyone faces in his everyday life.
Even in her song Firework, dedicated to the 'It Gets Better' campaign, she displays other issues than gay-bullying.

Her music video (watch it here) includes a kid watching his parents fighting, a child with cancer, an insecure teenager... and of course, the gay kiss that lead to all those homophobic comments!
If you hate gay people that much why do you bother watching the video and leaving a comment?
This video is supposed to make teenagers, suicidal teenagers, feel better about their sexuality! Help them ignore bullying and all the issues they have to deal with because they are different!
